DENTON TOWN LANE (north side) Lychgate at Church of St. Lawrence and churchyard wall to west and south (formerly listed as The Churchyard wall to the West and South of the stone near the Lychgate and Mounting Block)

G.V. II

Lychgate. Late C19. Stone slate roof on timber structure. 2 posts (with later diagonal supports) rise to support a ridge beam and cross beams which in turn support eaves purlins. Timber members are chamfered and shaped braces strengthen the cross beam/post junctions. The hammer-dressed stone walls have triangular coping stones and at one time included the stone (now in churchyard) commemorating the school of 1814.
