Description
The School House, built in 1862, served as the schoolmaster's residence. It is constructed from rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has three bays and two storeys, with a single-depth layout. The ground floor includes three, four, and five-light chamfered mullion windows, each with hoodmoulds, while the first floor has no windows.
A Tudor style door is located in the third bay, above which is inscribed "manners maketh man" in Gothic script. The first and second bays are recessed, with the eaves supported by slender timber columns featuring arch bracing. A plaque in the third bay reads: "Come ye Children: Harken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord: The fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom: Bring them: In the nurture and admonition of the Lord: Anno Domini MDCCCLXII". The building also has coped gables, two ridge chimney stacks, and mullion windows at the rear.
