Description

23 Higher Hillgate is a mid-18th century building that stands three storeys tall and is constructed of red brick. The façade features a symmetrical arrangement of windows with a pattern of two, one, and two, all lacking glazing bars and adorned with stone keystones. The central section of the building projects slightly forward and includes a window with a keystone and a carved brick lintel. The entrance is framed by Roman Ionic pilasters, topped with a pediment and a segmental moulded frieze, and has a rusticated surround with a keystone. The door itself consists of six panels and is set above a painted stone plinth. This building, along with No. 27, contributes to a cohesive visual group in the area.
