Description

The Star and Garter Public House is an early 19th-century building located on Higher Hillgate. It stands three storeys tall, constructed from painted brick and topped with a new slate roof featuring stacks at the gable ends. The façade includes five windows on the upper floors, which do not have glazing bars, and a band at the first-floor cills. On the ground floor, there are four windows and a doorway that is framed by Doric half-columns and an open pediment. The door itself has six panels and is topped by a round-arched fanlight. The building also has a rendered plinth.
