Description
Stocks located to the south of the Church of Saint Chad in Rochdale date back to 1688, as indicated by the inscription "WW 1688" on the stock ends. The stocks feature stone stock ends with chamfered corners and shaped semi-circular heads. The foot restraints and bench are replacements, while the bench supports, which are of more recent construction, also have chamfered corners. These stocks were relocated in 1891 from their original site in the former Market-place.
