Description
Littleborough Coach House, now a heritage centre, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is built from hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has four bays and two storeys, with opposed coach entrances in the first bay. Notable architectural details include quoins and shaped eaves gutter brackets. The segmental-arched coach entrance has a door to the left and three stabling doors to the right, all with chamfered surrounds. Above the entrance, there is a small round-headed light with impost blocks and a keystone. The first floor has three windows, and there is a Venetian window on the left return, which also includes an oval-shaped opening and an owl hole in the gable; these features are mirrored in the opposite gable. The right return has a central coach entrance, a door, and four windows, all similar to those described earlier. The rear has three smaller windows, one of which is now a door, and larger first floor openings with a taking-in door. The coach entrance is consistent with the others. Inside, the building has queen-post roof trusses.
