Description
Cinder Hill Farmhouse is an early 18th-century house located on Cinder Hill Lane in Chadderton. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The farmhouse has a two-unit, two-storey plan, with 20th-century additions at the rear. The front has a projecting plinth, and the door to the right has a chamfered surround. There are two 4-light chamfered mullion windows on each floor, although all the windows have had two mullions removed. The left gable was rebuilt in the 20th century, and there is a massive projecting chimney stack on the right gable, in addition to a ridge chimney stack. At the rear, a similar blocked door surround creates a cross-passage against the gable, but this area is largely obscured by the additions. Internally, the farmhouse features chamfered beams, some with ogee stops. A barn and shippon that were once connected to the left of the house were demolished in the early 20th century.
