Description
60 Nelson Street is one of a pair of villas, now part of The Pankhurst Centre, with No.62 to the left. Built around 1840, the building has been altered. It features red brick construction and a hipped slate roof. The villa is two storeys high and has three bays, which were originally symmetrical, with a central pediment that slightly projects forward. It has a stone plinth and a modillioned eaves cornice. The central doorway is elliptical-headed and includes a set-in doorcase with slender Tuscan columns, an entablature, and a cornice. The door is panelled, and there is a plain fanlight above it. The windows are 4-pane sashed with raised sills and wedge lintels, except for the ground floor left window, which has an added rectangular bay window painted black and topped with a slated pentice roof.
