Description

Chamber Hall is a farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century and was enlarged in the 18th century, with some alterations made over time. It is constructed of red and brown brick, with some internal timber-framing, and features a slate roof. The building has an H-plan layout, consisting of a single-unit hall range with short two-unit crosswings. It is mostly two storeys tall, with a cellar in the north wing and an attic in the south wing, and has a window arrangement of 1:1:1.

The central range includes a square-headed doorway with moulded wooden jambs, a flat-arched head, and a studded plank door fitted with strap hinges and a moulded wooden pull-handle. This doorway is flanked by single-light windows, which are likely 20th-century insertions. On the first floor, there is a segmental-headed two-light casement window. The gable of the left (south) wing features stone quoins at the base of the wall, with segmental-headed three-light casements on both the ground and first floors, flanked by vertical joints from former mullioned windows. The attic contains a two-light casement window with a flat-arched head.

The right-hand (north) wing has similar casements on the ground and first floors, along with a side-wall chimney that has water-tabling. At the rear, the south wing projects and has lean-to extensions at the angle and on the gable wall, with various casement windows present. Inside, the north wing is timber-framed, with the posts hidden at the ground floor but visible on the first floor, featuring jowelled heads. There is also a dog-legged splat-baluster staircase. Chamber Hall forms a group with the barn located to the south.
