Description
The Edward VII statue in Whitworth Park, located to the south of the Whitworth Gallery in Manchester, commemorates King Edward VII, who died in 1910. Created around 1912 by the sculptor J. Cassidy, the statue features a granite base, plinth, and pedestal, with a bronze statue of the king. The statue has a square plan and is set on a large stepped and moulded plinth, with a rectangular pedestal supporting an over-life-size depiction of the monarch in a traditional standing pose, holding a sceptre and orb.
