Description
Hulme Hall is a university hall of residence built around 1910 by Percy Worthington. It features brick construction with sandstone dressings and green slate roofs. The building has long wings on the north, east, and west sides of a quadrangle, with an additional wing extending to the north. Designed in the Arts and Crafts style, it is mostly two storeys high, with a short three-storey tower at the junction of the wings. The windows are primarily 6-light mullion-and-transom casements, with those on the upper floors set within coupled gables. The east range includes a 5-bay arcade of 4-centred arches at the ground floor, alongside three bays of stone oriel windows on the second storey. In the south-east corner, there is a squat tower with an embattled stone parapet and an octagonal stair-turret to the left, topped with a patterned lead roof.
