Description
Park House is a mid-19th century villa that now serves as a hall of residence. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone and features a slate roof. The building has a double-pile plan and is designed in the Gothick style, consisting of two storeys and three symmetrical bays with a projecting gabled center.
The facade includes a string course and projected eaves that lead to steeply-pitched roofs. The central section has a single-storey bay, which was likely the original porch, featuring a 2-light window with a traceried overlight in the center and narrow sash side windows, all beneath a hoodmould. Above this, there is a parapet with a triangular-headed upstand that contains a shield. The first floor has a 2-light sash window with arched lights and a hoodmould.
The outer bays are characterized by narrow two-storeyed canted bay windows, each with three arched lights on both floors, with the lower lights being cusped. The ridge chimney adds to the architectural interest. Each gable wall has a similar but wider canted bay, with 2-light sashes at the center. The south side features three bays in total, including two gables and a recessed center, along with other sash windows in a similar style, including a shallow rectangular 4-light bay window. The north side has various 20th-century additions. The interior has not been inspected.
