Description
No. 10 Tib Lane is a small town house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and has undergone some alterations. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings, and has a narrow rectangular single-fronted plan positioned at right angles to the street.
It stands three storeys high and features two windows, with stone sill-bands on saw-toothed brick courses on both upper floors. The eaves cornice is modillioned and moulded. On the ground floor, there is a doorway to the right with a moulded stone architrave, and to the left, a square plate-glass shop window also with a similar architrave, both situated beneath a plain fascia board with a cornice. The first floor has sashed windows without glazing bars, while the second floor features 4-pane sashes, all of which have moulded architraves. A tall chimney is located to the left of the building. This small early structure of domestic scale provides an interesting contrast to the later and much larger commercial buildings in the street.
