Description

This is an 18th-century cottage, altered in later centuries. It is built of red brick with a stone footing, and extends over three storeys. It has three circular windows on each floor, except for the top floor, which has only two. There are also two blocked rectangular windows on the ground and first floors. A paired doorway is located on the left side, set within a stone surround with bevelled jambs and Tudor heads inscribed "H/JE" and "1717". A small window is positioned to the right of the doorway on each floor. A later 19th or 20th-century door, with a pentice hood, is situated towards the right side of the building. A 20th-century buttress is located near the centre of the cottage. The roof is covered with stone slabs. The right-hand gable end was rebuilt in the later 20th century, incorporating a likely 18th-century moulded tablet, possibly a sundial. The rear of the cottage has flush sash windows with glazing bars.
