Description
Heaton Grove, built around 1840 for Thomas Heaton, who was the workhouse governor at Redvales in 1820, is a classical-style building. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a symmetrical design with two storeys of equal height. The façade includes five large sash windows, each framed with moulded architraves, bracketed cornices, and sills. The central window is flanked by half-width windows on either side. A wide Doric porch, supported by two pillars and two columns, features an entablature. The building is adorned with quoins, a plinth, a first-floor sill-band, a cornice, and a parapet that is topped with four vases. The sides of the building are similar in design. At the rear, there is a two and three-storey extension dating from around 1870, made of red brick with scored rendering and stone dressings. A conical roof rises above the staircase tower.
