Description
Nos 2 to 10 Market Street is a classical building constructed between 1850 and 1860. It features a curved front and is made of ashlar stone. The building has two storeys and includes eight sash windows, which have bracketed cornices on the first floor and keystones on the second. The ground floor has shop fronts with a cornice and pediments, while the four right-hand bays serve as a bank frontage, complete with half-columns. This bank frontage continues along a two-bay return front, and the entrance is cut diagonally across the corner, supported by ornately-carved shaped brackets. The building also has long quoins at the end pairs of bays, along with a cornice and blocking course at the top.
