Description
The barn with cruck frames on the south side of the yard at Hollingrove Farm dates from the 16th century, or possibly the 17th century. It is constructed of roughly coursed rubble with a later, more regular outer skin. The structure features two large, irregular crucks that support a stone slab roof, with cart entrances on each side and other openings. It is suggested that the barn may have been used as a dwelling until the farmhouse was built in the 17th century and could also have served as a storage place for the local estate manager, as indicated by the farm's former name, "Hollingreave."
