Pair of houses including former loomshop. Dated 1808. Coursed and squared sandstone, watershot to side and rear, with heavy slate roof. EXTERIOR AND PLAN: 2 storeys with cellar to No.10 only, 2-window range, comprising 2 single unit, double pile plans. Angle quoins to left, and to right the springing of an elliptical archway between Nos 10 & 8. Round arched doorways with plain architrave with keystone, the windows all renewed in original openings with flat arched heads. 5-light window with plain mullions to former cellar loomshop of No.10. Moulded plaque between the upper windows with date and initials 'H' over 'T.A.'. Rear fenestration largely renewed. Axial stack set forward of ridge-line. INTERIOR: not inspected. HISTORY: the former cellar loomshop (now converted to form part of the domestic accommodation) is believed to have been built and used by a velvet weaver (Grove Street was formerly known as Velvet Walks).
