Description

Nos. 2-18 Birley Street is a terrace of nine houses built around 1850. The houses are constructed from coursed and squared stone and topped with slate roofs. The terrace is two storeys high and features a ten-window range that includes four single-unit, double-pile plan dwellings, as well as one two-unit plan that incorporates a shop. The doorways are set in round-arched moulded stone architraves, each with a fanlight above the door. The windows, originally 12-pane sashes, have all been renewed in their original openings and feature wedge lintels. There are end wall stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
