Description

This is a group of six houses and a public house, built as a terrace around 1830. The buildings are constructed from coursed and squared stone with slate roofs. They are two storeys high and have a five-window range with a double pile plan.

The doorways to numbers 645 and 647, which are now part of the public house, are centrally located on the elevation. Number 645 features a plain architrave, while number 647 has a round arched architrave, and both doorways are accessed by steps. Flanking these doorways are sash windows with two and four lights, each adorned with flat arched painted stone heads on both floors.

The main entrance to the public house is located beyond these doorways and also features a round arched architrave. To the right of this entrance, there are two 2-pane sash windows on each floor. The left-hand window serves as the return for the house that opens onto Pemberton Street. There is a doorway to the right of the gable with a plain architrave, accessed by steps that lead over a cellar, which is lit by low lights with plain stone lintels.

The 2-pane windows have been renewed in their original openings on each floor of both elevations. The left-hand half of the gable comprises numbers 29 and 31 Pemberton Street, which have similar outer doorways and renewed windows in their original openings. Included as part of number 29 is a small single-storey extension with a hipped slated roof and a single doorway. The interior has not been inspected.
