Description
The Elms is a former town house, now divided into four flats, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and five bays, with lower single bay wings on either side. Notable architectural details include a moulded plinth and rusticated quoins. The entrance is highlighted by a segmental pedimented Doric doorcase, which has fluted pilasters and triglyphs, and contains a six-panel door with fielded panels. The ground floor windows have been altered to recessed casement doors, while the first floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars and moulded stone sills. A stone bracketed cornice adds to the building's elegance. The original large slates on the roof have been replaced with smaller slates. Inside, there is a staircase with a closed string and turned balusters.
