Description
Roughhill is a farmhouse dating from the mid 17th century, which has been significantly altered and expanded. It is constructed of brown brick in English bond and garden wall bond, topped with graded grey slate roofs. The original 17th-century section features a projecting front gable, while a right wing and a large rear wing were added at or before the mid 19th century. The mid 19th-century brick chimneys are rectangular in shape. The front gable showcases red sandstone quoins, kneelers, gable copings, bevelled mullions and transoms, as well as incut bevelled window surrounds. The original 17th-century windows have been bricked up, and mid 19th-century small-pane iron casements are set in nearly flush timber subframes. A modern oak door is present, but the interior has not been inspected.
