Description
The statue of Ludwig Mond, created in 1912 by E. Lanteri, is located in front of the Research Laboratory at Winnington Works in Northwich. This life-size bronze statue stands on a polished granite plinth. It features Mond with a luxuriant beard and moustache, holding a stick in his right hand and papers behind his back in his left hand. He is dressed in a long heavy overcoat, with a wide floppy-brimmed hat pulled down over his eyes, presenting a formidable yet withdrawn character. The statue is inscribed with "LUDWIG MOND FRS LLD BORN MARCH 7TH 1839 DIED DECEMBER 11 1909: ED LANTERI 1912." It is symmetrically placed in the forecourt of the ICI Research Laboratory alongside the statue of Sir John Brunner.
