Description
This is a 19th-century pumphouse with a hand pump, built by W H Smith of Whitchurch. It features an open-fronted shelter made of oak small framing with zig-zag bracing beneath the eaves, and the sidewalls are constructed of red and yellow sandstone. The front truss displays an oak panel inscribed with the words "YE SHALL SERVE THE LORD AND HE SHALL BLESS THY BREAD AND THY WATER." The roof is covered with red clay tiles. The pump itself is made of cast iron and includes a round-fronted bucket-stand made of red and yellow sandstone. Please note that the cap of the pump-chamber is missing.
