Description
Faraway Meadow is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with an extension to the left that was originally a farm building, likely added in the early 19th century. The structure features brick-nogged oak small framing, with the left bay constructed of brick and a cement-slate roof. It has two storeys and three bays. The entrance includes a replaced boarded door set in an open gabled porch supported by brackets. Most windows have been replaced with cast iron lattice casements from the Cholmondeley Estate, with three on the lower storey and two in gabled half-dormers on the upper storey, as well as in the end gables. The ridge chimney is made of brick and was originally a gable chimney before the left bay was added. Inside, there is an inglenook with an arched oak bressumer, chamfered oak beams in the lower storey, and some oak-framed internal walls.
