Description
No. 12 Stanley Place is a town house built in 1780. It features Flemish bond brown brick and a grey slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall, with a roof that hipped upward behind the ridge to create a rear attic space. Access is via one stone step leading to a door with five fielded panels, the top panel being broad, and an overlight above it set within a doorcase that has plain pilasters and a pediment with a key.
On the first storey, there is a recessed triple sash window, although the glazing bars have been removed. The second storey has two recessed 12-pane sash windows, and the third storey features two recessed 9-pane sash windows. All windows have stooled painted stone sills and slightly cambered painted gauged brick heads. The building is topped with a painted stone cornice that is similar to those found on Nos 2-10 and No. 14. An ornate rainwater head dated 1780 is present, although the lower part of the pipe has been renewed. The interior could not be inspected.
