Description
The churchyard walls and gatepiers at the Church of St Chad date from 1810, as noted on a metal plaque. Constructed from red sandstone ashlar, the walls are approximately 3 feet high and feature chamfered upper edges. There are two square gatepiers on the western wall, which are topped with moulded plinths and capitals. These gatepiers support 19th-century cast-iron gates and a 20th-century wrought iron overthrow. The churchyard walls were extended in the current century.
