Description

This is a cottage, likely dating from the early 17th century, that has been altered over time. It is constructed of an oak frame and sandstone, with some areas rendered and a corrugated asbestos roof covering what was originally thatch. The cottage is long and narrow, though it has been extended to the rear. It has one storey plus an attic, with five windows. The front features a replaced boarded door within a moulded frame, along with two wooden Gothick casement windows to the left of the door and one to the right. Two further small-pane casements are found on the far right. There are three chimneys: one axial, running along the ridge and opposite the door; another slightly towards the right of the ridge; and a projecting gable chimney to the left of the ridge. The rendered sandstone on the left-hand gable wall contains a blocked recessed mullioned window of two lights to the ground floor and one of three lights to the attic (partially obscured by a chimney). A mid-20th century casement window is set into the right-hand gable. Some original timber framing is visible at the front and rear of the building. The interior has been altered, with some residual small timber framing remaining.
