Description
St John's Church Hall, built in 1881 by TM Lockwood, is a church hall located next to the former Rectory at No. 3 Vicars Lane. The building features a hard red brick front, with brown brick sides and rear, topped by a brown tile roof. It is a single-storey structure with one bay.
The front has a plinth and a pedimented centerpiece that includes two tall windows, each with six small panes above four larger panes. Brick and terracotta part-fluted pilasters are positioned between and on either side of the windows. The molded clay pediment is decorated with floral and foliar motifs and is dated 1881.
To the right side, there is a porch with a door made of four fielded panels and three panes above, accessed by two stone steps and topped with a gable featuring a terracotta pediment. The side and rear walls are simply detailed, with three pairs of windows similar to those on the front. A small brick chimney is located on the rear gable. The rear of the building extends behind the former Rectory and includes three steps leading to a five-panel priest's door. The interior does not have any visible features of special interest.
