Description
The gate piers on the drive to Bolesworth Castle from Chowley Lodge were built in 1829 by William Cole for George Walmesley. They are made of red sandstone in a Gothick style. Each pier features a recessed trefoil above an arched sinking, flanked by blank arrow-slits on each face. The piers are topped with stone balls that sit above projecting friezes with cyma cornices.
