Description
No. 19 City Walls is a town house that has been converted into a hotel, likely built in the early 19th century. It features Flemish bond brown brick with pale headers on the east wing and has a grey slate roof. The building has a cellar and three storeys. There is a brick plinth, and the east wing includes grilles over the cellar vent. Access is provided by seven repaired stone steps leading to a replaced four-panel part-glazed door with a simple overlight, set within a recessed porch that has a simple pilastered case.
The east side of the building has a recessed 16-pane sash window, while the west side features a later canted projecting bay with a recessed four-pane sash window on each face. The second storey has similar windows, including a recessed 12-pane sash above the doorway, while the third storey has similar fenestration with shorter windows. A simple cornice runs along the front of the building, which has a hipped roof and a low two-storey wing to the west. The interior has not been inspected.
