Description

This is a house, dated 1904 and designed by Percy Worthington. It is built with roughcast render over brick, stone dressings, and a plain tiled roof. The house has an L-shaped layout, with the main entrance located in an angled porch.

The exterior features a two-story design with an asymmetrical porch incorporating a door within an ashlar architrave and a datestone above the doorway. The south range contains four three-light windows on the first floor, and a four-light oriel window supported by substantial stone brackets, all beneath a gable with a chimney stack at the apex. The ground floor has a half-canted bay window adjacent to the porch, and a segmentally-arched recess to the right, incorporating a wooden bench beneath a two-light window. The west-facing gable has a projecting square bay with a canted six-light stone mullioned and transomed window. All windows have stone sills and leaded lights. The east wing has a canted bay adjoining the porch, followed by an expressed chimney and a renewed four-light casement window. A continuous sill band runs along the first floor of both wings. Axial and gable end stacks are also present.

Inside, significant original features remain, including joinery such as wall panelling and a staircase, fireplaces – one with a copper hood, a high tiled surround, and plaster coving – and a plaster vine-scroll frieze in one room.

To the north of the east wing is a high wall which connects the house with a former coach house, now a garage. The wall is pierced by a segmental archway.
