Description
The Round House is a house built around 1900 by Richard Harding Watt, showcasing Edwardian Free style architecture. It features a round tower facing the garden, which is connected to a rectangular block that faces the street. The garden entrance has a pedimented doorway accessed by steps, topped with an irregular parapet. There is a three-storey block that extends beyond the main structure, displaying irregular window arrangements with one and two lights, some featuring heavy stone lintels, and an irregular embattled parapet. The ground floor and first floor of the tower have paired windows that are not aligned. The tower projects from the corner of the main block, which is further defined by a projecting square bay window. The main entrance is located on the northern side, flanked by paired Ionic pilasters beside the paired doors. To the right of the doorway, there is a round-arched stair window. The interior has not been inspected. This house is part of a notable series of buildings constructed on Legh Road under the patronage of Richard Harding Watt, including The Old Croft.
