Description

This sundial, located 3 meters from the south-east end of St Luke's Church in Goostrey, was carved in 1798, as indicated on its base. It is made of sandstone and stands 900 millimeters high on an octagonal pedestal with a scotia moulded design and a square base measuring 900 millimeters on each side. The main column features an ogee neck, a ring head, and an ogee moulded cap, which holds a bronze plate secured with lead inserts. The plate is marked with Roman numerals, although the gnomon is damaged.
