Description
Wistaston Manor is a former manor house from the early 17th century that has been altered and is now a public house. The building features rendered brickwork and has a "U" shaped tile roof. It is two storeys tall with an attic and consists of five bays, along with an added single storey, four bay wing to the west.
The central entrance projects and includes a pair of gothic-headed two-panel doors topped with a gabled parapet. This entrance is flanked by timber cross windows with casements. The front end bay gables have large 19th century bay windows with French-style casements arranged in a cross formation, complete with full-length high transom side lights and flat roofs. Above the bay windows, the first-floor windows are single mullion twin-transom casements with label courses above. The three central bays are recessed over the flat roof of the entrance and feature modern windows with night vents.
High-standing dormers include single lights with labels, and similar windows are found in the gable apexes. The building has high-standing rendered stacks with arch separation of flues and massive caps.
Inside, original ovolo moulded beams and exposed timbers are present, many of which are second-hand timbers that have been inserted.
