Description
The Withington War Memorial is a tall wooden structure located to the south-east of the church of St Peter. It features a large hooded Calvary that overlooks the junction of Farm Lane and Long Shoot Road. The figure of Christ Crucified is carved in the round and is positioned above a rectangular metal plaque attached to the lower part of the cross shaft. The main dedicatory inscription on this plaque reads: "LIVE THOU FOR/ ENGLAND/ WE FOR ENGLAND/ DIED./ 1914 – 1919./ (15 NAMES)."
