Description

Higginsfield House is a former dower house, now a private house, dating from the early 19th century and originally part of the Cholmondeley Estate. Constructed of whitened brick with a slate roof, the house is two storeys high and five bays wide. A projecting porch features a deep frieze, cornice, and a lead-covered flat roof supported by pilasters and square built-up timber piers. The porch contains a wide three-quarter glazed door with bead-and-flush lower panels, wing-lights, and an overlight, all incorporating glazing bars. Recessed sash and tripartite windows have glazing bars, stone sills, and wedge lintels. A brick eaves band and wide boarded soffite are present, along with a shallow-pitched roof with lead hips. The west gable has a near full-width canted bay. A rear wing (to the north) completes a "T" shaped plan. Internally, the house features four-panelled doors.
