Description
The Old Farm is a former farmhouse, now a dwelling, likely originating in the 16th century with additions from the 17th century and alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building was originally timber framed but is now rendered brick with a slate roof. It has a "T" shaped plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and consists of four bays. An area of close studding from a former external wall is concealed by a brick lean-to. The exterior features flush casements, gable barge boards, and gable end stacks.
Inside, there are two inglenooks, moulded or bevelled beams, and exposed ceiling joists in most of the ground floor rooms. The internal walls contain timber elements, and the ground floor has ledged and battened doors. A Jacobean staircase and two-panel doors are present, along with oak floorboards at the first floor level and in the attic. The roof structure includes simple strutted trusses and oak purlins.
