Description
The cemetery chapel, built in 1901 by Robert J McBeath, is an octagonal structure featuring random rusticated rubble with pink ashlar dressings and a red plain tiled roof. It has rectangular gables on three sides and a tower at the east that serves as the entrance porch. The tower has a battered base with clasping buttresses and a battered octagonal upper stage topped with a spirelet, which is set behind a parapet and features a timber lantern. The lower stage of the tower includes a 2-light plate traceried window and a string course adorned with gargoyles. The doorway at the base of the tower is framed by a moulded and chamfered archway, leading to cast-iron gates. The tower is complemented by a high, buttressed gable to the west, and all three gables showcase plate traceried windows, while the main walls of the chapel feature rose windows and a scalloped eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected, but the design is noted as inventive and original.
