Description
A late 18th-century building on Moody Street, originally conceived as a substantial house with projecting end wings and a central feature. The building has been divided into separate dwellings, numbered 25 to 31. Part of the adjacent building at number 23 now sits above the right-hand projecting wing. The building is constructed of stucco with stone end quoins, and extends over three storeys. The central section and ends of the first storey feature casement windows, some accompanied by iron balconies. Sash windows are present elsewhere. Later additions include four canted bay windows to the ground floor, replacing the original windows. The central doorway, leading to number 27, has a flat-roofed porch supported by plain columns. Doorways at numbers 25 and 29 have reeded surround cornices and six-panelled doors. The doorway at number 31, located on the returned side, has a reeded three-quarter pilaster surround, a semi-circular radial fanlight, and a six-panelled door, all within a recessed surround. The building has broad, overhanging eaves and an old stone slate roof, except for the right-hand wing which is covered in slates. Numbers 13 to 31 together comprise a notable group.
