Description
This is a building comprising numbers 8 to 12 Moody Street. It likely dates to the 17th century, although the facade was refaced in the 19th century with a "black and white" decorative timber frame. The exterior is primarily painted cement panels, with an original stone base. The building is two storeys high, and features a gable on the left-hand side with scalloped bargeboards. There are five modern wood casement windows, along with a 19th-century canted bay window to the left of the ground storey. Three doorways are present, with number 8 featuring a radial fanlight and a six-panelled door; the others are modern. The eaves are plain and the roof is covered with modern tiles. A covered walkway is located to the right of number 8. In 1956, a hoard of gold coins was discovered at this location, consisting of seven James I laurels and eleven Charles I unites. Numbers 6 to 14 form a group.
