Description
Eddy Holes is a 16th-century stable and shippons located on Whalley Old Road. The building is constructed of stone and features an old flagged roof, rising to two storeys. The front has a two-storeyed gabled porch with a round-arched entrance, internal side benches, and a four-centred arched doorway. The outer doorway is framed in a moulded square and is inscribed with the year 1590. The top floor overhangs and includes a two-light stone mullioned window with hollow chamfers. To the right of the porch, there is a five-light window and a small single light on the ground floor, along with a small modern window and a five-light window above, both with plain chamfers. The stable extends under the same roof to the right (north). To the left (south) of the porch, there is a five-light window on the ground floor and another five-light window above, both featuring hollow chamfered stone mullions. The shippons continue under the same roof to the left. This site is historically associated with the Knights Templars.
