Description
Myles Wife Hey is a 16th-century stone building located on Bank Hey Lane South. It appears to be dated 1543 and features a flag roof, a tall central chimney, and a projecting end chimney. The front center portion is single storey and includes a 7-light stone-mullioned window with a label and a dormer on the roof. To the left is a two-storey gabled wing with a 4-light window above and a 5-light window below, both with labels. The larger gabled wing to the right has a 4-centred arched doorway and a 6-light stone-mullioned window, all under one label. Above this are two older windows with 2 and 5 lights, also with stone mullions and labels, along with a circular eye at the top of the gable. There is another doorway on the left-hand gable end. The rear elevation mirrors the front, featuring a low center portion with an 8-light window and flanking two-storey gabled wings. The building is said to have Cromwellian associations.
