Description
Hylton House and the attached garden wall date from the late 18th century. The house is built of coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and has a roof made of concrete tiles, featuring brick chimneys. The garden wall is constructed from sandstone rubble and topped with flat stone coping. The house is two stories high and has three windows. The central entrance features a six-panel door with an overlight that has radiating glazing bars, set within a doorcase that includes pilasters with fluted necking, supporting an entablature with a fluted architrave and a dentilled cornice beneath a pediment. The sash windows, which have been renewed, include glazing bars and are adorned with painted tooled stone lintels and projecting stone sills. The roof also has renewed end brick chimneys. The garden wall extends from the left side of the house and includes a keyed stone arch.
