Description

A range of single-storey cottages, likely dating to 1843-47, are arranged around a garden courtyard. Together with numbers 23-39 (listed separately), they form a large square through which Broughton Road runs. The cottages are constructed of red brick with stone dressings around the doors and windows, and have a slate roof. They are all single-storey with a uniform eaves and roof line; each cottage consists of three bays. Designed in the Tudor style, the windows have chamfered stone surrounds and hood moulds, as does the central doorway. The doors have Tudor-arched heads. The central cottage protrudes slightly, features wider windows, and has a stone parapet. Above the central door is a gabled dormer with a square panel inscribed with the date 1839.
