Description
Sir G.B. Hunter Memorial Hospital is a house that has been converted into a hospital. It was built in the early 19th century and features Flemish bond brick with ashlar dressings, topped with a graduated Westmorland slate roof. The building has three storeys and seven bays, arranged in a 1:5:1 pattern, with a two-storey, one-bay extension on the left.
The central entrance has a 20th-century door set in a pedimented Tuscan porch, with slightly set-back bays at each end. The sash windows have wedge stone lintels and glazing bars on the first and second floors, along with projecting stone sills on the second floor. To the left of the door, there is an inserted tripartite stone-mullioned window. The building also features sill bands, a first-floor band, an eaves gutter band, and a cornice. At the rear, there are brick chimneys with ashlar cornices.
