Description
The remains of the east gate of Segedunum are located in Wallsend Park, also known as Hall Grounds. This part of the Roman fort was re-sited in 1912. The structure is made of stone and consists of three groups of masonry, each one course high, arranged to form the corners of a rectangular building. There are also three isolated blocks in line extending eastward from these groups, along with about seven courses of wall that have been built into the hill to the south.
