Description

24-28 Dibley Street is a 'stilt' block of three flats, built between 1974 and 1976 by Ralph Erskine's Arkitektkontor, with Vernon Gracie as the site architect and structural engineering by White, Young and Partners. The building features pale metric modular brick and concrete block cross walls on a concrete frame, complemented by red-brown timber-fronted balconies, one of which is double height. It has blue metal roofs supported on plywood box beam purlins and stands three storeys high on concrete stilts, with an open ground floor. There are stairs on the side with a plastic canopy, as well as a plastic canopy over the second-floor balcony. The timber windows include aluminium opening lights, with enlarged windows in the first-floor living rooms. The timber doors have glazed panels, some of which have been renewed in hardwood. This block serves as a prominent terminating feature at the edge of the estate.
