Description
The Church of St Joseph and Presbytery is a Roman Catholic building completed in 1858 by A M Dunn. It is constructed of coursed dressed stone and features a high-pitched slated roof in the French Gothic style. The church includes a nave, aisles, short transepts, and an east chevet with a swept pointed roof. There is a base for a tower at the north-west corner, although the tower itself was never built. A gabled chapel is located to the south-east. The church is notable for its elaborate tracery.
Adjoining the church is a low south link to the Presbytery, built from similar materials. The Presbytery is three storeys high and has three bays, designed in a modified Gothic style with shaped window heads. It was built to accommodate three priests.
