Description
Winpenny House, located at 135 and 137 High Street in Yarm, dates from around 1700. The building features a stuccoed front and a pantiled roof with truncated end chimneys. It is three storeys high and has five bays, which are highlighted by giant pilasters that extend just above the second-floor windows. A diagonal brick eaves cornice made of large bricks indicates that the roof was raised in the 19th century. The second floor has Yorkshire lights, while the other windows are early 19th-century sashes with delicate glazing bars set in exposed wood frames. The central entrance has been renewed and is set back in an open lobby, with the original window arrangement still visible behind.
